How to Keep Your Muscle While Losing Weight on a GLP-1

Training in Irvine, on the Newport Beach line, for people losing weight on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound. You manage the medication with your prescriber. We make sure what you lose is mostly fat.

No obligation. Month-to-month memberships. If you’re not a fit, we’ll tell you.

Fast weight loss takes muscle with it unless you train

That is the part these medications don't do for you. Ours is the training, the food conversation and the measurement that shows whether the weight leaving is fat or the muscle you need.

  • Weight loss is not the same as fat loss

The scale cannot tell you what came off. A body composition scan can, which is why every client here starts on one and comes back to it.

  • Resistance training is the lever you control

Training against load helps preserve lean muscle while weight is coming off. That is mainstream exercise science, and it is the core of what we do with clients on a GLP-1.

  • Protein and recovery, planned with you

Appetite drops on these medications. We look at what you are actually eating and build the program around what your recovery can support.

  • Measured every few weeks

Lean mass and body fat get re-checked as you go, so if muscle is going with the weight, you find out early rather than at the end.

Start with the Deep Health Assessment

45 minutes, complimentary. A full-body composition scan gives you the number that matters on a GLP-1: how much of you is lean mass right now. Everything else is written from it.

Not on a medication yet and wondering about it? That is a question for a physician. Our partner medical team handles medical weight management separately, and they decide, not us.

No obligation. Month-to-month memberships. If you’re not a fit, we’ll tell you.

I worked out daily for two years at another local gym and was not getting the results I wanted. Within weeks of coming to The LOOK, I began to see extraordinary results that I never even dreamed were possible for my body.

Frequently Asked Questions

Something we haven't covered? Call or text (949) 518-3480, or ask a coach.

Should I strength train while taking a GLP-1 like Ozempic or Wegovy?

Resistance training helps preserve lean muscle during weight loss, which matters when weight comes off quickly. We coach the training and track lean mass with body composition scans. We do not prescribe or manage medication, so talk to your prescriber before starting any new program.

Do I need to already be on a GLP-1 to train here?

No. Plenty of clients never take one. If you are on one, we build the program around it. If you are asking about getting one, our partner medical team evaluates that separately.

Will you tell me to stop my medication?

No. Medication is between you and your prescriber. We coach training, movement and the food side of it.

How do you know whether it is working?

Body composition scans. Weight on its own tells you very little; the split between lean mass and fat tells you what the training and the medication are doing together.

How often would I train?

Most clients train two to four times a week, 60 minutes a session, one-on-one or semi-private. Your assessment decides where you start.
